When I first started the NYMuse blog in 2009, I had no idea how long I could keep it going. One of the scariest things was the thought that I'd start something, and never be able to keep it going. After all, how many projects do we get excited about that somehow always lose steam quickly & never really go anywhere?
The little voice in my head was ever-present suggesting that it would be an impossible task to create a blog. Even more, the voice insisted that this would be a goal that required work. Hard work. And work is a chore that I'd be too lazy to keep up with, too inconsistent to focus on, and too difficult to commit to long-term.
If I continued to listen to that little voice, then the voice would definitely win. It always wins when we let it run wild in our heads & when we assume it is us...it is more powerful than us. But it's not.
Today's Observation: You can get into good habits pretty easily if you decide to take charge. You can follow a dream or a vision if you remember that you are more powerful than that little voice that always wants to drag you down & keep you here doing nothing. You can make 'work' work for you. Practice Daily to have a Daily Practice that gets you where you're going.

Are you happy with where you are? Or are you just postponing your happiness?
Often we tell ourselves we'll be happy when we have more money, get a new car, change careers, lose weight, work less, move to a new home, take a vacation, etc, etc.
The truth is there's no better time to be happy than right now. Don't dwell in the past or worry about the future so much that it interferes with living today. Happy Is Now.

Sometimes our will is so strong that we won't even dare take someone else's lead, even if we know it to be the correct one.
But to change your mind and follow someone who's trying to help doesn't mean that your will is any less free.
The choice to change is still your own. Free Your Will.

Do you keep score? Always wondering whose turn is it to take out the trash, do the laundry, prepare dinner?
It's difficult to be a happy person if you're spending all your time keeping track of all you do.
Stop cluttering your mind with who's doing what, who's doing more, who's doing less, and so on. It's all small stuff. Stop Keeping Score.

Being listened to & heard is one of the greatest desires of any person. But are we ever really listening?
Often you just can't wait to get your viewpoint in, to immediately disagree, or to just bring the conversation back to you.
Today & EveryDay: Try to listen with interest and ask questions. Listen with an open mind, for you might learn something!

Many of the things we do are not on a conscious level. We're constantly repetitive & automatic in our thoughts, feelings, & behavior.
When you're acting this way, you just keep re-creating what you know. It's comfortable. It's safe. But there's no choice in it.
Do at least one thing today that's different than your 'norm'. If you're quiet, speak up. If you always wear black, wear color. If you're slow, move fast.
Activate the Power of Choice.

There are many reasons why we develop a bad attitude: ego, arrogance, pride, etc. The list can go on & on.
Sometimes you just start to get comfortable in your bad attitude. And before long, you realize you've fallen prey to a bad habit.
Today & EveryDay: Remember that attitudes are formed, and a bad attitude is nothing more than an ingrained habit. The good news is that habits can be broken! Go ahead, change your attitude!
